It takes true mastery of a topic/subject/activity to inner-stand and embody, to explain and action something… simply. Overcomplicating, confusing, feeling overwhelmed by something is a sign that you haven’t yet settled into mastery of that thing. Mastery is developed in… repetition and refinement.
How many times you must string a note on a guitar until your fingers move with it effortlessly… graduating through layers of scales and songs… learning the instrument and art inside and out before your own melodies pour through you, until you are in such mastery of the skillset that you embody the art.
The complex how-to only seems complex and overwhelming when you’re trying to jump 10 steps ahead of where you are. When you let yourself be where you are at in your process, when you focus on mastering the skillset you’re developing now / the level of the game you’re playing now, you jump to the next… simply.
Rinse and repeat.
Until the most complex how-to becomes simple because you are so well versed in the craft, you begin to access the nuance—the depths and breadths of the simple things. You begin to live into the wisdom of embodying simplicity.
Living life in a state of: I’ll focus on what’s in front of me with devotion and discipline until I land in mastery.
Legit rocket science can become simple. When you study, practice, immerse yourself in it long enough. Staying true to the level of study and practice you’re in each step of the way. Graduating to the next masterfully each time. Until equations that once blew your mind seem… simple. And you pave new frontiers of math and space and human exploration.
Key here is – choice.
Choose what you’re willing to devote your life to and show up for again and again and again until you speak the language fluently and could teach what seems complex and confusing to most in a way a young child can absorb… and you know you’ve landed mastery, embodiment, the deep wisdom of simplicity. 😘
