There’s a time when learning about your internalized experience of unsafety and hypervigilence is the most productive thing you can do. Because you don’t know enough yet to choose differently.
And then comes a time when you’ve learned a lot about yourself. About the experiences that informed you. Why you are the way you are. Why you think and feel the ways you do. How your thoughts and feelings influence your actions and results.
And the thing stopping you from actually having a different experience of life and creating a different life is… choosing something else.
Noticing when and where you show up in the old ways and using each moment of noticing as an opportunity to anchor in a new way… of thinking, feeling, speaking, acting.
This is the art of embodied transformation. At its simplest essence. Cultivating more Choice where you once believed you had none. Many modalities can support you in doing this. CBT, EFT, hypnotherapy, breathwork, somatic experiencing, shadow work, IFS, *insert here*.
But it’s not the modality that changes you. (Which is why so many people use so many modalities… and still loop in the same old shit for fkn yeeeeears.) It’s your willingness to *use* what you learn and experience through the modalities to anchor a new experience and choose a new story IRL. In the crunchy moments. In the hypervigilant moments. Choosing again. And again, and again, and again. Until you’ve practiced it so well it becomes who you are.
A person who is actually looking for the good, the choice, the power in each moment. Instead of… waiting… for the other shoe to drop. 😉
